The originality of Alexander Calder is deeply imprinted, most especially how he incorporated duration or movement in his work. The whimsy of Salvador Dali and his use, destruction and rebirth of the non sequitur, and presence of human ritual, cultural ritual, and the ritual of capture thereof; in works of the first peoples of our world particularly Africa and in the birth of America-(the Native American) infuse the artistic inspiration. Bilbilravago expresses primal or intuitive sculpting methods and balancing “contemporary or modern technical concepts of art making” to create works.

Bilbilravago is more than just creating art, it strives to create balance between rough and polished, the past and the present, and a future yearning for discovery. It is a spiritual experience when Ferguson “hunts” for the natural and civilized items that comprise his works. It’s “Sawubona”- I see them and bring them to life.

Bilbilravago Inc. began in 1997, featuring a hand-crafted collection of 21st century sculpture, micro-sculpture, and high-end jewelry by genius sculptor and inventor William J. Ferguson II. Mr. Ferguson started creating sculpture as an escape to an imbalance that he was experiencing as a professional dancer, as a Black Man. The largeness of Dancing had consumed him and he needed to find a method of expression that brought a quiet focus to his life, as he created the detail and delicate scale of micro sculpture to offset the “bigness” of dance. Ferguson’s first work, he acquired a deer tooth and carved a being he envisioned in the object. He then embraced a mold and cast it in 18kt gold as a pendant. From that moment, his life would never be the same. He quickly started to explore, progressing from micro-sculpture into larger and larger sculptural works.
